Real Wedding | Catherine & Joshua

Real Wedding | Catherine & Joshua

I've had the fortune of working with Catherine on a number of occasions prior to her wedding with Josh —  helping her with small mementos for Josh throughout their dating history and small commissions for gifts. When she reached out to tell me they were engaged, I knew Catherine would have an absolutely stunning vision for their day.

Catherine knew from the start of her planning that she wanted the wedding to be black & white, simple and elegant. With that in mind, we kept the calligraphy style elevated and classic; and the typeface traditional and clean. We began with a slightly more playful suite, utilising the calligraphy, for their engagement party invitations & menus on the water  — and then created a more traditional suite, using the calligraphy, for their wedding stationery, signage, menus, bar menus and table numbers. Working with Kashaya & Co.'s stunning styling of St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and Swifts, Darling Point; the wedding on the 29th May was an elevated affair with white roses, letterpress menus and soft fairy lights.

What was the highlight of your wedding day?
The highlight of our wedding day is when we danced into our reception, 2 minutes later, we had everyone up greek dancing!

Where did you source inspiration for your day?
Our source of inspiration was mostly Instagram.

Who were your favourite suppliers to work with throughout the process?
Our favourite suppliers were of course Lauren from The Blackline Bottega - anything I needed or if I had a question, Lauren was ALWAYS available and got back to me straight away. I love working with Lauren, I have been using Lauren for quite a few years now. My other favourite would have to be Kashaya from Kashaya & Co. She was amazing to work with and also was our florist which made the process even easier! I would also have to mention Helen & Sophie from Helen Rodrigues Bridal, I LOVED walking in there for every fitting!

What do you love most about the stationery we created for you day? How did you find your experience with The Blackline Bottega?
My experience with The Blackline Bottega is always so carefree - starting with our engagement stationery - which was done so quickly but was exactly what I wanted, to the wedding stationery and everything in between was a very simple process. I would show Lauren a few inspiration images and she would come up with the exact design that we wanted. We loved our stationery - it was elegant, classic and timeless.

What advice would you give to newly engaged couples’ planning their wedding?
Once you make a decision - stick to it. You can change designs and looks a million times, but if you liked it at the beginning, stick with your gut!

What most excites you about your life together?
Everything! I look forward to every day and what every day will bring! I married the man of my dreams which means I will have the life of my dreams. Im excited about having a family together and going through life together!
